When starting the engine in a cold state, first close the choke, depress the starter lever three or more times to fully open the throttle, and then reopen the choke as appropriate after starting.
A lawn mower consists of a cutting head, an engine, drive wheels, a propulsion system, a blade, a handle, and a control unit. During hot or cold weather, avoid prolonged operation and be sure to take adequate breaks. Inspect the mower before and after use. When starting a cold engine, first close the choke, press the primer pump at least three times to fully open the throttle, and then, once the engine has started, gradually release the choke. If the grass is excessively long, mow in stages. Operators should pay particular attention to walking through the mowing area beforehand to remove stones, electrical wires, branches, and other foreign objects. Ensure that all safety components—such as protective guards and grass‑ejection shields—are intact. If any safety device is damaged or missing, or if warning labels have become illegible, do not operate the machine.
